Klein, Frantz (1838? - 4 Apr 1913)

Frantz Klein, a man about 75 years of age, who lived alone in Pine Valley, Clark County, near the mound north of Neillsville, was found dead near his home Saturday morning. The neighbors noticed that there were no signs of life about the house on Friday and early the next morning several went there to make a search. They found that the bed had been disturbed as if someone had slept in it, the lamp was overturned and the bedroom window open. On looking out a few rods from the house, Mr. Klein’s body was found half clad as if he had ran or wandered out in the night and died. It is said that he was subject to "spells" or short insane periods. Nothing appears to be disturbed in the house, his pocket book with $10 being found.

Mr. Kein’s wife died some years ago and he has since lived alone. A son, Frantz Klein Jr. is somewhere in the west, but as yet has not been located, and probably has no notice of his father’s death.

Dr. Monk was sent by the District Attorney to examine the body, but as no marks of violence were found and no appearance of foul play about the premises, a formal inquest was not deemed necessary.
